This Saturday at Dale Lippert Field at the Longley Athletic Complex, Dean College fell short on senior day 23-6 against Gallaudet University. Despite the Bulldogs' gritty defensive approach, which included a blocked punt returned for a touchdown and multiple third-down stops, it was not enough to stop Bison's dominant ground game, which tallied 226 yards and 3 touchdowns. Gallaudet’s winning streak goes to 4 in a row as they improve to 4-3, and Dean College suffers their 5th home loss of the season and drop to 0-7.
Gallaudet’s rushing game was superb, and with the Bulldogs’ offense out of sync, the Bison jumped out to a 15-0 lead. First Year RB, Zion Ortiz, and Senior RB, Dre’Vaughn Mackall combined for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns, both showing off their speed and power in the trenches. During a defensive stalemate in the 3rd quarter, Gallaudet’s punter, Andrae’ Green, got his punt attempt blocked by Junior DE, Christian Donaldson, who returned it 23-yards to the house. Dean College’s first defensive score of the season cut the Bison lead to 15-6. However, the Bulldogs’ offense would continue to be smothered by a fast Gallaudet defense that recorded 3 interceptions on the afternoon. When it was all said and done, Dean College could only muster 92 total yards on offense and fell short to the red-hot Bison 23-6.
Dean College will travel for their rivalry game against Anna Maria College next Saturday at 12:00 PM EST, closing the 2024 regular season campaign. Gallaudet will also be on the road, going up against Alfred State, with kickoff also occurring at noon.
