Since the release of Dark Lane Demo Tapes in early 2020, Drake fans haven’t seen much action from the infamous rapper.

Drake is known for his best-selling albums, with big names such as Scorpion and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The majority of the songs are smash hits, consisting of freestyles, pop songs, and even some sappy music. Marvin’s Room is one of Drake most popular songs, and it’s also one of his most depressing. Fans still sing the famous line, “Cups of the Rosé.”

With Drake only releasing one single since his last album, fans have been impatiently waiting for him to drop another project. Numerous rumors connected Drake to a new album entitled, Certified Lover Boy. Drake also stated to multiple sources that the album would be released, but he supposedly kept delaying the date due to other reasons.

At last, on March 5th, 2021, Drake released new music. However, it wasn’t Certified Lover Boy. He released his newest project, called Scary Hours II. It’s the single that’s not a single. The, “single” consists of three songs: “What’s Next,” “Wants and Needs featuring Lil Baby,” and “Lemon Pepper Freestyle featuring Rick Ross.”

Let’s start with, “What’s Next.” The opening to Drake’s project is a classic freestyle with a techno-style beat. Drake’s lyrics provide an upbeat mood to let his audience know that he’s back. The chorus is also iconic, with fans being able to easily remember the words.

The next song is, “Wants and Needs featuring Lil Baby.” Drake and Lil Baby have always made a great duo, releasing pervious songs such as, “Yes Indeed” and, “Never Recover.” Drake begins the song with a classic freestyle with rhyming lyrics. About one minute and forty seconds into the song, Lil Baby jumps on the mic and steals the show. His deeper voice and freestyling flow make this song a hit, and potentially the best song these two have made together.

Finally, the project wraps up with, “Lemon Pepper Freestyle featuring Rick Ross.” Rick Ross and Drake are as good together as peanut butter with jelly. When the two released their previous song, “Money in the Grave,” it became an overnight sensation. When fans found the two working together again, the reaction was nothing but excitement. The six-minute freestyle begins with Rock Ross working his smooth lyrics. Eventually, the beat stops and the song is presumed to be over. However, the beat picks up again and Drake steals the show. Not only did Drake go crazy, but he also freestyled for four minutes! Just take a look at this verse:

“Yeah, dropped him off at school, big day for my lil’ man. Recess hits daddy prolly made another M. School bell rings and I’m out there to get him again.”

His confidence and elegance with the lyrics allow this freestyle to reach its full potential. This will go down as one of Drake’s best freestyles, even if it’s a part of a three-song project.

Although he dropped Scary Hours II, fans are still anticipating Drake to drop Certified Lover Boy in the coming weeks or months. The question now is if Drake will make his fans wait again or continue to spoil them with some the best music of 2021.
