The Dean College Bulldogs football team enters Saturday’s matchup 0-3 on the season as they prepare to face off against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Engineers. Dean is still looking for their first victory in the Murphy-era at Dean College.
Previously, the Bulldogs dropped their home opener against Curry College last Saturday, 33-25. MIT is also coming off a narrow defeat, falling 13-10 to Salve Regina on the road, last Saturday to fall to 1-1 for the season.
Offensively, Dean is averaging 199 total plays, including sixteen touchdowns on 1007 total yards. MIT has sixty-seven plays with four touchdowns over 268 total yards. Dean has run for 372 yards, while MIT has gained 251 yards.
Dean stands at 16-44 in 3rd down conversions and 6-10 on 4th down. On third down, MIT is 5-15 and 2-3 on fourth.
Consistent defense has been a struggle for Dean to maintain, costing them some games. Meanwhile, MIT has shown their defense potential, by keeping both the games played so far in reach.
When Bulldog’s head coach was asked about the D-line challenges, he stated: “They need to do a better job tackling” as well as each player being better on “doing their responsibility”.
Murphy did give credit to the team by saying that despite the difficulties, “guys are fighting, competing, and playing hard”.
