With the COVID-19 pandemic seemingly over, and most of the on-campus restrictions lifted, new life has seemed to sprout, and the Dean College campus is busier than ever.
As I walk around campus, I have noticed that it seems to be busier than ever, with people constantly at Boomers and gathering in the campus center, and the dining hall always being packed. This is not surprising, as a substantial amount of work was completed over the summer. Dean looks almost like an entirely new school for returning students.
Boomers underwent a complete makeover, with a new bar and setup, free pool, renovated lounging area, and a menu that has also been completely redone. The café has experienced some changes as well, with new T.V.s installed to make the menu sleeker, and a self-cooking station that should be opening soon, so you might want to keep your eye out for that.
If you are uninterested in cooking your own meals or chilling out in Boomers, then you might enjoy the newly installed fire pit outside the Rooney Student Center. The fire pit is closed off for the time being, with no news as to why, but it does seem to be open during the weekends. The Green’s learning center has also been redone, with the library having a new look. Students will appreciate the openness of the area, as it will help with foot traffic for students going to and from class.
So, if you have felt trapped these past two years due to the covid restrictions then get out there, we have plenty of new things around campus from Bommer’s, the café, a fire pit, and even a new library. The nightlife has returned to Dean, and you do not want to miss it.
