Dean College has named Geoffrey Lerner as its next Vice President of Athletics and Recreation. Lerner will officially begin at Dean on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 reporting to the Interim President and joining the College’s senior leadership team.
Lerner brings over a decade of experience in athletic administration and coaching across both secondary and postsecondary settings. Most recently, he served as Athletic Director and Boys Varsity Basketball coach at Prospect Hill Academy Charter School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
There, he led more than 15 interscholastic sports and recreation programs, emphasizing equitable access, student-athlete leadership development, academic support, and program engagement. During his tenure, the Prospect Hill boys basketball team achieved its first Massachusetts Charter School Athletic Organization (MCSAO) tournament win and reached a North Division championship game for the first time in 14 years. Lerner was also honored as MCSAO Boys North Coach of the Year.
Previously, Lerner held leadership and coaching roles at Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Wentworth Institute of Technology. In those roles, he managed eligibility and compliance, administered budgets, oversaw academic monitoring systems, and coordinated game-day operations, developing a solid foundation in the logistics and strategy of collegiate athletics.
Lerner holds a Master of Science in Physical Education from Hofstra University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Studies from Ithaca College. He is a Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and maintains a Massachusetts professional educator license in Physical Education.
“I’m excited to join Dean College and build upon its strong tradition in athletics and recreation,” Lerner said. “My aim is to create an inclusive culture where student-athletes feel challenged, supported, and connected, on the field and in the classroom.”
Lerner and his family currently reside in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
