FRANKLIN – The Dean College women’s volleyball team fell to Bridgewater State in a non-conference matchup Tuesday night.
Dean entered the contest looking to snap a five-match losing skid. Bridgewater hit the road in search of a third consecutive victory.
The home team kept it close early, with four Bulldogs contributing a kill in the opening set. Bridgewater hit an impressive .462% in the first frame and would eventually pull away to win 25-17.
Dean was at their best in the second set, taking the Bears beyond twenty-five points. Exceptional play from setter Bella Driscoll and outside hitter Emily Larouche willed the Bulldogs to a 22-17 lead. Bridgewater would storm back, however, and win the set 27-25.
The Bears completed the sweep in the third set 25-18, winning the match 3-0. Bridgewater improves to 4-2 on the year while Dean falls to 2-9 and 0-1 in GNAC play.
For Dean, Driscoll finished with nineteen assists over three sets. Larouche added eight kills in the loss. Leading the way for Bridgewater was Meaghan Coutu with eleven kills.
