On Saturday, the Dean College Bulldogs were stunned by Nichols College Bison 70-7. Prior to gametime, the Bulldogs were looking to win their second straight game for the first time since 2019.

The Bulldogs would face a major test by not playing on their home field at Dale Lippert Field. Instead, they played at Franklin high school for a night game serving as the home team.

Weather was a major concern prior to kick-off with heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the day in Franklin Massachusetts. For the Nichols College Bison, they were focused on winning their first game of the season after losing 57-7 against Umass Darmouth. Bison had a two-game winning streak against the Bulldogs and won 71-55 against in their matchup last season.

In the first quarter of the game, Bison led 28-0 with 4 touchdowns. The score sent fans in shock and later walking to the parking lots. In the second quarter, Bison scored 21 more points to lead their score 49-0 going into the halftime.

The entire first half, the Bulldogs looked stunned and in disbelief of the outcome of the game. The Bulldogs in the first half did not reach the fifty - yard line with multiple three and outs.

In the second half, Bison closed the door on the Bulldogs with a pair of more touchdowns. For the Bulldogs, things did not add up to what they worked on preparing for this game. However, sophomore backup quarterback for the Bulldogs Paul Hammond played in the 4th quarter and connected his first touchdown pass to Josh Verde which would be the only points the Bulldogs would put on the board. The Bison would get their first win of the season winning 70-7 and getting their first win of the season.

Bulldogs' wide receiver Mohale Mitchell had this to say about the loss and preparation against Buffalo State.

“The loss is in the past, as a team we need to focus and keep winning game after game.”

The Bulldogs will look to bounce back on Saturday at Dale Lippered Field as they take on Buffalo State with kickoff set at 12:00Pm.
