FRANKLIN – The Dean Women’s Soccer team fell to the Emmanuel Saints 6-1 in a GNAC (Great Northeast Athletic Conference) matchup on Wednesday afternoon. Dean was looking to get back in the win column after tying with Lasell 0-0 in their previous game, while Emmanuel was looking to win their fifth straight game after defeating Anna Maria 4-0 in their previous contest.
Dean got on the board a little over five minutes into the first half when Junior forward Lisette Ayala scored her second goal of the season to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. Emmanuel would tie the score about eight minutes later when Sophomore midfielder Liz McCormick scored her third goal of the season to tie the score up at one.
Emmanuel then added four more goals in the first half as Sophomore midfielder Maya Dayanani, Junior midfielder Rachel Harrington, Sophomore defender Annebel Balogh de Ga, and Junior forward Kaelyn Briscoe all got on the score sheet for the Saints, giving them a 5-1 lead heading into halftime.
The Saints added another goal with just over thirteen minutes left in the second half when first-year forward Ciara Horan scored her second goal of the season, to increase their lead to 6-1.
With the win, the Saints improve their record to 5-1 (4-0 GNAC) and will look to keep up their good play when they host a conference matchup against Simmons on Saturday. Meanwhile, Dean falls to a record of 3-3-1 (2-2-1 GNAC) and will look to bounce back when they travel to New Hampshire for a non-conference matchup against the New England College Pilgrims, also on Saturday, September 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
