MILTON- In a well-matched first game, early runs for Curry stood as just enough, leading the Colonels to a narrow 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

In the bottom of the first, the Colonels opened the game scoring with Jillian Roger’s one out rbi single to left scoring Natalia O’kleasky. Strong defense by Dean's fielders in the inning would prevent further runs from scoring.

Colonels starting pitcher Jillian Rogers threw an impressive complete seven innings, keeping Dean’s offense to a minimum of two hits.

For the Bulldogs, despite three total runs given up by pitcher Jillian Glynn, Glynn threw tremendously as well, pitching six full innings, allowing only two earned runs to Curry’s offense.

In the second contest, a strong rebound on both ends for the Bulldogs led them to a 6-4 victory. Dean struck first in the second inning on a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Jaylee Martinez giving the Bulldogs an early 1-0 advantage. Curry eventually would escape the first-inning jam, counting for only the one run suffered.

Dean's starting pitcher, Zoe Coleman was superb, surrendering only three earned runs, and zero walks over six and two-quarter innings, four of which were scoreless frames.

Dean added on in the fifth with three consecutive rbi singles by Jillian Glynn, Sari Albury, and Jessica Stewart expanding their lead to three. After a two-run Shirley Chan double, Dean would go up five by the end of the top fifth.

A three-run bottom of the seventh by the Colonels was not enough, as their hopes of a rally and comeback fell short, handing Dean a well-deserved first victory of the 2023 season. After the two-game split by Curry and Dean, the Bulldogs improved to 1-10-1 while the Colonels dropped to 7-6.

Dean will be home against Anna Maria College on Tuesday, March 28th at 3:00.
