FRANKLIN- In an offensively-challenged game for both teams, the Dean College Bulldogs narrowly edged out the Lasell University Lasers 74-65 on Saturday afternoon at Pieri Gym. Dean soars to 13-6, while Lasell drops to 7-11 on the season.

In a first half defined by poor shooting from Dean and Lasell, both teams performed evenly shaky early on. As a result of frequently missed three-pointers and low shot field goal percentages, offensive woes by the Bulldogs and Lasers led to some concerns early on for both teams.

For Lasell, first-half defensive rebounding was a weakness leading to second-chance opportunities and putbacks for Dean’s offense. The Lasers struggled to knock down three-pointers for much of the first half, contributing to their difficulties in generating points.

Despite Dean’s high number of turnovers and three-point struggles, strong offensive rebounding and scoring from Malik Spearman marked for most of Dean's first-half points as the Bulldogs entered halftime up 32-28.

With the hopes of a better performance in the second half, both teams came out of the break hoping for a smoother pace of play. In a fiercely competitive, back-and-forth second half, the game remained close for the rest of regulation.

Dean managed to hold on for their thirteenth victory on the season, winning 74-65 and improving to 9-2 at home. Dean’s next game will be on the road against Johnson and Wales University on Tuesday at 7:30.
