Are you a fan of The Beatles? Did you grow up listening to their classic hits that started in the 1960s? Maybe even your family members have introduced you to their music. If so, come on down and see Let it Be, performed on Main Stage in the Paula M. Rooney Student Center. Watch as the stage comes alive through song and dance.
To give some background information for people who may not be as familiar with The Beatles as others, The Beatles were an English rock band that formed in the year 1960. The four members of the band were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison. They were all very influential in the formation of popular music in the 1960s. A lot of their music contained forms of pop, rock ‘n’ roll, and classical genres. Some of The Beatles’ most popular songs are Here Comes the Sun, Hey Jude, Yesterday, and many more. These songs and multiple of their albums hold the longest consecutive streak for the Billboard Top 200, being ranked at number one for seven years. These years were 1964-1970.
Let it Be was originally developed by Stageworks Productions and Annerin Productions and was conceived by Maggie Pitts in the 1970s. This stage production follows a storyline of teenage friends, their stories during the Vietnam War, and the struggles along the way. There is no dialogue in Let It Be, so the storyline is told through song and choreography.
Show dates and times are September 27, at 7:30 PM, September 28 at 9:00 PM, and September 29 at 2:00 PM.
