Dean College Women’s Volleyball Swept By Mount Holyoke In Loss, Drop Third Straight

(Dean Bulldogs, competing in Pieri gym Thursday evening)

The Bulldogs came out of the gate looking strong, generating an early six-two lead in set one. Dean’s middle blocker, Sari Albury, got off to a hot start with five early kills, but everything quickly went downhill as Dean never again held a lead.

Shortly after, Dean surrendered six consecutive points causing head coach, Mark Ledwich to call the game’s first time-out. Following the time-out, the struggles for Dean on the court continued, especially on Dean’s serving attempts. Dean’s early six-two lead turned into a twenty-five to nine trail, as the Lyons won that set.

The two most pressing errors for the Bulldogs throughout the game were scoring on the serve and the attack miscues. This carried into the second quarter as the main factor of another frustrating lost set, twenty-five to twelve.

It was too little too late as Dean seemed to be well contested against their opponent towards the middle-end of the final set but could not pull off their mini rally. Mount Holyoke pulled off their third win of the season, advancing to three four.

Dean will face Colby-Sawyer in New London, New Hampshire, this coming Saturday, with hopes of getting back on a winning path.
