The Dean College Bulldogs Women’s Lacrosse team defeated the Rivier Raiders 18-14 at Joanne Merrill field Saturday afternoon behind ten goals from Maire Brown.

The first period seemed to be evenly contested, with the game getting started with goals from Jazzy Sztyler-Magee, Maire Brown, and Nina Medeiros to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead early in the game. But only a few minutes later, Rivier scored two quick goals just thirty seconds apart. The Raiders and Bulldogs would trade goals for the rest of the period including goals from Haley Gaunt and three more goals from Brown, giving Dean a 7-5 lead headed into the second quarter.

The second quarter began with Rivier tightening the score after only one minute played. After a slow start, Dean finally found their stride and scored three unanswered goals. Brown would score two, and Gaunt would score the other. The second quarter came to a close, but not before the Raiders would further close the gap to 10-7.

The second half would see more equal play from both sides, with Brown registering another three goals in the quarter, along with Allie Bezio also scoring her first of the game. But Rivier had other plans and scored six goals in the third to cut Dean's lead to only one, with the score being 14-13 going into the fourth period.

The fourth period would see the Bulldogs score four goals in a row, starting with Brown's tenth of the game, followed by a score from Sztyler-Magee, and two tallies from Medeiros. The game would end with a Rivier goal, but it was too late, as Dean went on to win 18-14. This win boosts Dean to 3-1, and they will host to Saint Joe’s Maine Wednesday at 4 pm.
