FRANKLIN-- The Dean Women’s Basketball team remains winless on the season, as they fell 51-43 to the Mount Holyoke College Lyons on Saturday night.

Early on, the Bulldogs jumped to an early 17-6 first-quarter lead, with Tori Viau scoring nine of those points.

However, the offense was at a premium in the second quarter for Dean, as they made just one field goal which didn’t come until thirty-two seconds left in the quarter. Dean shot just 1-14 from the field in the second quarter, while Mount Holyoke made three three-pointers in the second quarter alone. Emily Mock made two, and Alex Twomey added one to give the Lyons a 25-20 halftime lead.

Dean failed to take a lead in the second half. The Bulldogs pulled within one possession numerous times and even tied the game once. Their undisciplined defense was too much to overcome, they committed 25 fouls overall, and just in the fourth quarter, they sent Mount Holyoke to the free-throw line 22 times.

Alex Twomey led the Lyons with 17 points, and Marley Berano was also key for them, she scored 16 herself. Tori Viau was the only Bulldog in double figures, she also had 17, and Tori Andrewski had a game-high 14 rebounds.

In her postgame interview, Tori Viau alluded to rebounding as a reason for the improvement in this game from the team. They will look to maintain their dominance on the glass when they travel to Lesley University on Tuesday.
