FITCHBURG —The Bulldogs fell short 33-28 to Fitchburg State at Elliot Field in their first game of the season on Friday night of Labor Day Weekend.

Fitchburg State got on the board first to make it 7-0 in the first quarter thanks to a 16-yard touchdown run by Elijah Zaire McKnight. McKnight also had a 73-yard reception for a touchdown later in the game.

The game went back and forth up until when Dean led 28-27 with 6:23 left in the 4th quarter thanks to a 16-yard touchdown reception by Mozes Mooney from quarterback Nathan Cisco.

Shortly afterward, the Falcons returned a punt from Dean that put them ahead 33-28 with 2:33 remaining in the game (the 2-point conversion was unsuccessful).

Both teams were 50% on fourth down conversions. The Bulldogs were only 36% on third downs and the Falcons were 56% on third downs.
