THROGGS NECK—Dean football fell to Maritime (NY) 30-19 on Saturday afternoon at Reinhart Field.
Dean led 13-0 at halftime after scoring the first two touchdowns of the game. However, Maritime scored 21 points in the third quarter to take the lead.
The Privateers added on in the fourth quarter thanks to a three-yard quick run by Tate Neiderer to make it 27-13 with 13:55 remaining in regulation.
The Bulldogs answered seventeen seconds later thanks to a 61-yard touchdown reception by Jordan Mason. However, Dean failed to convert on the two-point conversion, which kept Maritime ahead 27-19. Maritime added to their total by making a field goal to reach thirty points.
Dean quarterback Mozes Mooney finished 7-21 for 184 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jordan Mason led the Dean wide receivers in receptions with four for 111 yards and two touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Keem Weekes led the Dean defense with ten tackles.
Maritime quarterback Aidan Nunez finished 20-35 for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Tate Neiderer led Maritime rushing with 116 rushing yards, two touchdowns, and a receiving touchdown. Ian Dedra led Maritime receivers with seven receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Dean, 1-7, will be back in action on Saturday, November 5th, when they will host Anna Maria College at noon as they look to get back into the win column.
