CAMBRIDGE—The Dean College Bulldogs were blown out 35-6 by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon at Steinbrenner Stadium.
Dean’s only score came on their first drive of the game, when running back Ki’Sean Bullard ran the ball in from five yards out to make it 6-0. After the touchdown, the extra point was blocked by Adam Zimmerman of MIT.
From there, MIT took control, as they ran the ball eight straight times to end the first quarter and continued running with the pig skin three more times to start the second quarter.
Running back Jay Theriault ran the ball into the end zone from a yard out to give the Engineers a 7-6 lead and they never looked back. Theriault also finished with 157 rushing yards and three touchdowns for MIT. Engineers’ freshman quarterback Chase Harmon finished 8-13 for 109 yards and one touchdown.
Bulldogs quarterback Darren McDermott started his second consecutive game as Nathan Cisco remained out with a concussion. McDermott finished 10-31 which was good for 166 yards and one interception.
Wide receiver Mozes Mooney led the Dean offense with five receptions and 132 yards including a 59-yard reception that set up the touchdown for Bullard.
On the defensive side of the ball, Ryan Tigges led the tackles category with 10 as Dean had nine tackles for a loss of 28 yards.
The Bulldogs were held scoreless for the remaining 58:40 of the game as the Engineers led the time of possession 39:15-20:45. MIT also had a 386-177 advantage in yards of total offense.
Dean, 0-4, will be back in action next Saturday for their first ECFC conference game at Castleton University at 5 pm.
