FRANKLIN—Dean Football lost in a stunner to Gallaudet University 26-23 after leading 23-6 during Homecoming weekend at Dale Lippert Field.
The Bulldogs controlled most of the first half as they were up 16-6 at halftime and then scored early in the third quarter to make it 23-6.
Gallaudet turned the game around towards the end of the third quarter when Jaylen Johnson had a twenty-yard touchdown to cut it to 23-12.
With 5:07 left in the fourth quarter, the Bison made it 23-18 thanks to a six-yard run by Brandon Washington.
On the next Dean possession, Gallaudet forced a punt deep in the Bulldog's end. However, the Bison blocked it after bringing pressure and recovered the ball in the end zone for the go-ahead score.
The Bulldogs got the ball back with sixteen seconds remaining in regulation but ran out of time. Dean wide receiver Moses Mooney started at quarterback as Nathan Cisco was still out with an injury and was 14-22 for 231 yards and a touchdown. Mooney was named the Thomas “Butchie” Williams ‘75 Homecoming Game Most Valuable Player.
Bulldogs’ wide receiver Quintus Reid and running back Will Stafford each had a rushing touchdown, as Reid also tallied a scoring reception.
On the defensive side for Dean, Des Dias had had a team-best nine tackles while Dre Kidd had six, including three for a loss.
Dean, 0-6, will be on the road next week at Alfred State College at noon as they look to win their first game of the season.
