FRANKLIN-The Dean Bulldogs begin their 2022-2023 basketball season with a dominant 82-44 win against the Curry College Colonels.

Scoring was a challenge for Curry early on, as they missed their first seven attempted shots. Dean guard, Aj Weston, sparked an early offensive run for the Bulldogs, with three baskets, and seven points leading to a time-out taken by Curry. Following the stoppage, Dean continued to surge offensively with help from Dorien Ruffin, Jakobi Greenleaf, and Jayden Madise.

For the Colonels, scoring remained tough as they faced stifling defense from Dean. After a mixture of turnovers and missed rebound opportunities offensively and defensively, Curry was unable to put points on the board. Dean led Curry 41-19 at Dean.

Once the second half began, Dean fed off their momentum from the first half. AJ Weston and the bench remained hot offensively. Defense continued to be a weapon for Dean, leading to several scoring opportunities on the offensive end from steals and turnovers. AJ Weston finished the day with nineteen points, leading his team, as well as all scorers in that statistic. Dean outscored Curry 41-25 in the second half, and they would close out the game 81-44.

Dean's next game will be an exhibition game against Holy Cross on Thursday and will be back in regular season action Saturday as they face Bridgewater State on the road.
