FRANKLIN- In a game defined by hot shooting and comebacks between the Colby Sawyer Chargers and Dean Bulldogs on Thursday evening, the Bulldogs earned a 77-59 victory to advance to 11-5 on the season, while Colby Sawyer dropped to 7-9.
Right from tip-off, Dean and Colby Sawyer's level of performance looked to be evenly matched. Jakobi Greenleaf and AJ Weston started strong on offense, collectively building Dean an early 18-16 lead at the first time out.
Following the stoppage, Dean’s offense caught fire, as the Bulldogs went on a strong run leading to a timeout from the Chargers. Lack of control in pace and possession for Colby Sawyer began to cost them frequent turnovers and steals, leading to scoring opportunities Dean would capitalize on.
The Chargers could not keep up with Dean’s red-hot scoring, as the Bulldogs went into the break up twelve.
Dean came out half-time stronger offensively, Jakobi Greenleaf being a key contributor to their early success, starting 3-3 on shot attempts.
As the second half progressed, Dean struggled to maintain what appeared to be a comfortable lead, as Colby Sawyer stormed back into the game with a 20-4 run to cut their deficit to under ten in hopes of a comeback.
Despite this, Dean was able to regroup and gain their lost ground, as they overcame the Chargers rally to win 77-59.
Dean’s next game will be Sunday away against Albertus Magnus College at 1:00.
