NORTH ADAMS, MA- The Dean College Women’s Lacrosse team defeated the MCLA Trailblazers 22-7 Tuesday night at Shewcraft field thanks to play from Maire Brown.
To start the game, Dean would score eight unanswered goals from five different Bulldogs. Nina Medeiros would score the first goal, followed by Brown, Jazzy Sztyler-Magee, and Haley Gaunt who would all score two goals, Natalie Peterson would also score to give Dean an 8-0 lead. MCLA scored their first goal only 10 seconds after the Bulldogs last, and they would score their second only a minute later. Brown would score the final goal of the period for the Bulldogs to take a 9-3 advantage.
Brown continued where she left off in the first by scoring within 20 seconds of the opening faceoff. Dean went on to score three more unanswered goal courtesy of two goals from Natalie Peterson and one from Allie Bezio. Just as the Bulldogs thought they were going to pull away, The Trailblazers rattled of three quick goals to end the half 13-5.
The third quarter followed the same pattern as the previous two as Dean started hot scoring the first four goals of the period, followed by MCLA scoring their two goals at the end to set the score at 17-7 headed into the final period of play. Dean’s goals were scored by Bezio, Medeiros, Brown, and Gabbie taynor.
The fourth quarter saw Medeiros, Gaunt, Brown, and Bezio all score to push the lead to 22-7, and that’s how the game would end.
This win evens out Dean’s record at 4-4, and they will host Colby-Sawyer on Friday at 4pm on Grant Field.
