FRANKLIN-On Wednesday night, the Dean College Women’s Basketball team lost their home opener to Mitchell College 65-19. Dean falls to 0-2, while Mitchell advances to 2-1.
Dean struggled right from tip-off, starting 1-14 on shot attempts. Mitchell owned the court, using a little bit of everything leading to a Dean timeout. Dean was unable to improve following the stoppage, ending the first quarter trailing 26-2.
Dean had a golden opportunity to fight back into the game after Mitchell shot 0-9 to start the second quarter. However, Dean could not produce enough shots to loosen Mitchell’s large lead, making Mitchell’s struggles less significant. Dean's defense improved as the game approached halftime but still showed an inability to get their offensive game going.
The third and fourth resembled the previous quarters, as Mitchell continued their dominance on offense amid Dean’s challenges.
Dean will be back at Pieri Gym to play Mount Holyoke Saturday at 3:00.
