NEW LONDON-- Dean College Men’s Lacrosse defeated Mitchell College 24-3 on Wednesday. In the win, the Bulldogs tied the NCAA Division III record for the fastest goal to start a game, with Diego Segee scoring just three seconds into the game off a pass from Tyler Benedetto. This was the third time in history that had happened.
Xavier Haney, Weston Schumacher, and Ian Falconi each scored a goal for the Mariners.
For the Bulldogs, Will Brooks led the team with four goals in the win, followed by Diego Segee and Greg Centeio who each scored three goals. Segee also led the team with four assists, while Alec Speirs had three.
Speaking with Bulldogs coach, Matt Schairer after the game he said, “It was a good team win over Mitchell. We had contributions from all 40 players on our roster. It was a good start to the season. Now, we look forward to a tough matchup against a great Sage College team on Wednesday.” It will be the home opener for the Bulldogs at 3:00 at Grant Field.
