FRANKLIN- In a conference matchup on Thursday evening, the Dean College Bulldogs men's basketball team defeated Anna Maria 75-60. Dean improves to 12-6 as Anna Maria drops to 4-14.
In hopes of rebounding back from a recent loss to Albertus Magnus College, Dean proved their resilience right from the get-go. At the beginning of the first half, strong offense executed by the Bulldogs’ starters inside the paint worked to Dean’s advantage early on, handing them a lead they would control for the remainder of the half. For the Amcats, a mixture of an 0-3 shooting scuffle and lack of ball control led to a quick timeout from Anna Maria just two minutes into play.
Following the stoppage, the game remained close but still in Dean’s favor. This changed quickly, as Dean caught fire to stretch their lead and enter halftime with a momentous 41-24 lead.
As the second half went on, Dean saw their comfortable double-digit lead dwindle, as the Amcats began to find their rhythm. The Amcats cut the deficit to within single digits as they took advantage of Dean's low shooting percentage.
However, Dean managed to turn the momentum back in their favor the game with a 19-4 run leading them to their twelfth win of the year. Dean will be at home Saturday to take on Lasell University at 3:00.
