It is tough to say goodbye to friends after their graduation, but it is clear that they will accomplish great things over time. Former Dean Daily E-Board Dylan Hicks and CJ Medeiros reflect on their college experience and unveil their aspirations for the future.
When asked about their goals for job searching, the two of them shared unique answers. Medeiros stated that he is looking for employment in the communications field. “I can’t be picky”, states Medieros. “I could do social media, journalism, really just about anything”. While Hicks is also looking for jobs in communications, he has one main priority: to make some money and save up for law school.
“If I ever pursue a career in politics [after law school], it would probably be something at the local level,” mentions Hicks. “The Free State Project in New Hampshire is something I like because they have actively and successfully advocated for economic and social liberties”.
Considering both Medeiros and Hicks graduated from Dean College this spring, it was important to ask them what they will miss the most about being on campus. Overall, both agreed that the friends they made were a huge part of what they loved most about Dean.
Hicks also extends his thanks to Dean for helping him become a better person and student. “Dean deserves a lot of credit for where I am now and where I will go in the future. John Rooke had the biggest impact on me, and I am grateful to have had him as a professor”.
Medeiros and Hicks also have high hopes for the future of the Dean Daily. “I have the utmost confidence in the staff, and I really liked the diverse content that they put out,” said Medeiros. As for the new Dean Daily E-Board featuring Tom Szot, Seth Trotochaud, and Sophie Hunter, Hicks states that he is “…very confident in the abilities of the new E-Board and the general staff, and I am excited to see what they will do”.
Overall, handling a leadership role for the Dean Daily has given Medeiros and Hicks a lot of real-world skills for their upcoming professional lives. “The greatest skills that I could utilize in the real world would be public speaking, researching topics I am unfamiliar with, and writing on a deadline,” says Hicks. “My dream career is to be a corporate lawyer in the cryptocurrency field, and I believe I can apply much of what I learned at Dean and the Dean Daily to pursue that goal”.
Of course, it’s not summer vacation without some fun plans outside of work. Medeiros hopes to “…hang out with friends since there are no immediate vacations”, while Hicks has a lot of things on his to-do list.
“Outside of work, I will be studying for the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) which I will take this August,” states Hicks. “I will also be catching up on Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged and I am looking to learn more about cryptocurrency as well. Hopefully, I can make a trip down to Florida if time allows”.
A huge thank you to CJ Medeiros and Dylan Hicks for taking the time to share their future plans as they navigate the world as Dean graduates. From everyone at Dean, we wish you both the best of luck.
