Ever since people were in kindergarten, the wait for a sixth installation of the action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto has been around for so long. Now that a trailer for GTA IV was finally released by Rockstar Games last night, the world is soon to explode.

The last installation of the Grand Theft Auto series was back on September 17th, 2013, which brought in a ton of cash for Rockstar Games, reaching 1 billion dollars in the first three days of release. Considering how the replay ability and content of the series is adored by millions, the development of the next edition was rumored upon for years.

Amassing millions of views in the first hour, many people like me were stunned by the animation quality of the game. Using the ninth edition of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE), it looks as if we received a live-action movie trailer instead of a video game teaser. This reveal really goes to show how far game engines have evolved over the years.

In order to mix with the wacky and insane hijinks, the game is set in a made-up town called Leonida, which is meant to serve as a parody of the state of Florida. It’s about what you would expect from a state similar to Florida: a flawed town filled with crime and over-the-top heists/adventures. Much like the previous “Los Santos” from GTA V, the new town of Leonida will serve as a perfect sandbox for the experience that is to come for GTA VI.

Although people we able to see the game through their very eyes, its date of launch is still a couple years away. According to the trailer, 2025 is the year that the next installation of Grand Theft Auto will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X stores. There is no doubt that this game will demolish every possible record for video game sales.
