With the cold and crisp chill of the winter beginning to brush through Dean College, a lot of spring sports are beginning to prepare for their spring campaigns. One of those spring sports teams that is going into full motion is women's lacrosse. The team is looking to make some noise in the '25 spring season.
I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the key players on the team: Allie Stockwell. Stockwell (62) is the starting goalkeeper for the team and she continues to pad up her stats with this upcoming season around the corner. The 5'3' junior from Burrillville, RI is entering her third season with the team and has racked up some stellar numbers. She put up 120 saves with a save percentage of .372 in the '24 spring campaign. She had season highs in shots faced with 42 and with saves in 21, both highs came in a regular season against Norwich University on 3/9/24. Before last season, she also recorded other records for the program such as Most Saves 342, All-Conference Rookie Team, and Coach's Award winner recipient ('22-'23 season). In her freshman season, she was also #1 in the country with saves as well.
When I sat down with Allie, she gave me a clear insight into what is to come and what the expectations are for the young lacrosse team. She states that she feels confident that she will live up to the expectations of her captain role, which she received this fall season. She is very excited to take on the responsibility for the team which has a promising season on the horizon. I also asked her how she properly prepares herself for the upcoming season on the rise.
“ I always put in extra time and dedication on the field as well as in the weight room, extra reps help me get 1% better every day.”

While the expectations are high for the upcoming season, Stockwell holds high expectations for herself and her teammates. She stated that she shows tough love to her teammates so they can succeed as well as her. The women's lacrosse squad opens up their season in early March and with the team ready to roll in the spring, expect Allie Stockwell to be a key part of this young squad.
