After losing their doubleheader on Sunday against Lasell University at Longley Athletic Complex, the Bulldogs headed to northeastern Connecticut to face Trinity College Bantams. However, their hopes of winning fell short as the Bulldogs lost 21-8. Going into this game, the Bantams have had a great start to their season with a record of 8-4 but suffered a 14-5 setback to Endicott College in a game they would like to forget. The Bulldogs are still looking to improve with a 1-13 record and trying to get out of a losing streak of ten games.
In the first inning to start the game, infielder Seth Cruz and second baseman Brian Dovidi of the Bulldogs both singled. Dean's first baseman Joey Bossinas then rocked a single to center field to score Cruz. In the bottom of the inning, the Bantams fired back with a pair of hits which only allowed them to get in one run.
In the bottom of the second inning with the Bulldogs leading 2-1 after they scored a run in the inning, Bantams outfielder Brandon Chow hit a two-run inside-the-park home run to put the Bantams ahead. This gave the Bantams all the momentum, and after driving in multiple hits, stolen bases, and runs to win the game 21-8. Bantams starting pitcher Tyler Colditz secured the win with his first of the season, while Bulldogs starting pitcher Hunter Espinos was charged with the loss, adding his record to a 0-2 record for the season.
For the Bulldogs, Senior Brian Dovidi went 4-5 in the ball game to carry the Bulldogs to the end. The Bulldogs will now travel to St. Josephs Maine on Friday, March 31st at 12:30 pm hoping to bounce back.
