NEW HAVEN – On Sunday afternoon, the Dean College men’s basketball team suffered a 76-64 Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss at Albertus Magnus. With the loss, Dean falls to 11-6 on the season (6-4 in GNAC play). The Falcons improve to 10-7 (8-2 GNAC).

Dean made the trek to New Haven, Connecticut, with high hopes, coming off the back of a 77-59 home victory against Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday night.

Albertus Magnus got off to a quick start leading by as many as fourteen in the first half, but a late 7-0 run for the Bulldogs cut the deficit to just three points at the halftime break. Dean continued that momentum into the second period of play, jumping out to a 45-42 advantage with 15:19 to play. The lead was short-lived, however, as Albertus would reassert their dominance, outscoring Dean 21-12 in the final ten minutes.

The Falcons saw strong performances from Terry Dawkins and Justice Washington, who combined for 46 of their 76 points. Dawkins added 15 rebounds, while Washington had a game-high 20 boards.

The Bulldogs were led by Jayden Madise, who contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Mark Blair tallied 15 points and three rebounds. AJ Weston had 13 points to go with seven assists, though he turned the ball over seven times.

The rebounding battle proved the difference, with Albertus holding a 51-33 advantage on the glass. The Falcons had 19 second-chance points.

Next up for Albertus Magnus is a 7 p.m. meeting with Elms College on the road Wednesday night. Dean will look to return to winning ways at home versus Anna Maria College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
