Every year in addition to Discover Dean Day, WGAO’s Power 88.3 FM also does several Accepted Students Day events every school year. On Friday (2/21), Power 88.3 was featured in the Atrium area behind the staircase inside the Campus Center to support Accepted Students Day. The General Manager and four Student Directors for Power 88.3 helped make the set-up of the remote broadcast possible.

The people in the Power 88.3 photograph (from left to right) are Vic Michaels (Associate Professor of Communications, and General Manager), Tyler Lawton (Senior, Promotions Director), Ty McCormack (Sophomore, Assistant Music Director), and Rachel Geddes (Junior, Training Director). I (Senior, Assistant Production Director) was also involved with helping the Power 88.3 Remote Broadcast behind the scenes operating the board in the radio station on Friday [not shown in the photograph above].

The student directors for Power 88.3 had lots of fun talking at the Remote Broadcast as they were able to talk about a range of topics on the airwaves. For the Introduction Break, the student directors talked about Accepted Students Day. Next, the student directors talked about professional sport teams, Ty talked about the Boston Red Sox’s first spring training game and the prospects that will be playing, Rachel covered the USA vs Canada Four Nations championship game, and Tyler covered the Boston Celtics win over the New York Knicks. After that Ty mentioned the weather for Friday and Saturday. Then Rachel, Tyler, and Ty talked about the owner of the flower shop in California. For the fifth break, Rachel mentioned that Amazon will determine the next James Bond, Ty listed all the potential acting candidates to be the next James Bond, and Tyler stated that Henry Cavill should be the next James Bond. To close the Remote Broadcast for Power 88.3 on Accepted Students Day, Ty, Tyler, and Rachel all thanked everyone for listening to the remote.

Tyler, Rachel, and Ty did an outstanding job talking on the airwaves for Discover Dean Day. They all had very entertaining and exciting stories to bring to each break. Not only did the talk hosts shine but Nate also did an amazing operating the board and getting everybody ready to talk about their breaks! The next remote broadcast for Power 88.3 is expected to be on April fifth from 8:30 to 10:00 AM, also supporting the other Accepted Students Day.
