Senior Spotlight: Jesus Penton

Jesus Penton, or better known as Joe Penton is a senior Business Major. He was originally an Exercise Science major but changed to different career choices. Joe currently has a YouTube Channel known as JoEE or JoEEx. Originally, due to him becoming a content creator I thought he was in the Communication field. When I asked about why he was not a Communication Major he states, “I did not know much about the major when I switched, but every Comms class I have taken I loved! I loved Podcasting and Digital Production One! If I were to restart, I would go into Communications, though I can do whatever I want with a Business Major.”

Joe came to Dean from a recommendation from his old head football coach from his high school. He also came here because his brother was also here. They were only one year apart grade wise and were on the same football team! Joe also came here to play football, though his relationship with the sport wavered the more time he has been here.

As most of the students here at Dean know, our school’s football team has had a tumultuous relationship with consistent wins. He, like many of the players on the team, were frustrated with the results of the games. Joe explained that when he first got here, he was highly competitive in football. Though as the years went on, he slowly started to develop a negative relationship with the sport.

However, football was not all bad for Joe as he met people who would be in his wedding line up and, as a silver lining, this caused him to switch his passion to picking up the camera and start his content career. He even states “It feels so much better to put my passion somewhere else and I am loving doing YouTube. I love doing the videos and even editing the content I make!” Though Joe’s content career is still in the startup area he consistently posts and loves what he is doing.

Joe, through all of this, has shown how positive he truly is. There were many moments at Dean and in the interview where he made others laugh and kept an optimistic point of view. Though on the outside Joe seems like a serious and pessimistic guy he truly has shown that anyone can do anything if you have the mindset and the passion for it.
