FRANKLIN-The Dean College Women’s Volleyball team was back in action last night for their home opener at Pieri Gymnasium dropping their match against the nearby Suffolk University Rams 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-16). The Rams controlled in kills 38-18, errors 9-17, hitting percentage .326-.013, aces 9-7, and blocks 6-5.
The Bulldogs’ standout performers were junior Emily Ball who finished at .500 with five kills and no errors. First-year student Emma Siniscalchi had ten assists and a single ace, while senior Sari Albury wrapped out the notable performances with four aces and three blocks. Dean may not have won a set, but they kept each one close and the gymnasium involved from start to finish.
Suffolk had a balanced attack with six players registering multiple kills. The leaders included first-year Sami Shore, who also had three blocks, junior McKenna Keowen who finished with eight kills and thirteen digs, and senior Jasmine James who had five kills with a block attempt. The Ram's dominant attack in all areas was a true difference-maker in the match despite Dean’s best efforts.
“We stayed positive throughout the entire game; our energy was never down," said senior outside hitter Sari Albury. “We focused on things we worked on in practice this week and they for sure helped guide us. Executing them shows there are lots of positive things to take away from tonight moving forward."
The Bulldogs now look ahead to their tri-match this Saturday, September 16th in Nashua, New Hampshire at Bishop Guertin High School. They will face off against Rivier University at 11 a.m. as the visiting squad to start conference play, before later serving as the “host team” against Mitchell College at 1 p.m. Dean returns to their home court inside Pieri Gymnasium on Wednesday, September 20th at 7 p.m. to battle the Colby-Sawyer Chargers.
