After winning her fourth Grammy for Album of the Year last Sunday night and announcing the news of her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, Taylor Swift is back on tour in Tokyo picking up right where she left off. However, fans aren’t worried as to what surprise songs she’ll be singing this weekend, but instead wondering whether she’ll be able to make it back to the United States in time for Super Bowl LVIII kickoff, to support her boyfriend and Kansas City Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce.
So, can it be done? The simple answer: yes.
Time will allow for Swift to get from Tokyo, Japan back to the West Coast and her Allegiant Stadium Suite for the expected start time of 3:30 p.m. PST. But it is much easier said than done and will involve a little bit of time travel.
Swift has already begun her set of four shows in Tokyo and will wrap up her final performance on Saturday, February 10th at roughly 9:30 p.m. JST. Thankfully for Swifties, the 17-hour time difference means it’d still only be 4:30 a.m. PST. Kelce and the Chiefs would have 35 hours until they would have to take the field…leaving Swift plenty of time to get to the game.
But what will her travel plans look like?
Amid lawsuits against social media user Jack Sweeney, a college student who tracks celebrity private jets, Swift has elected to sell one of her planes that she acquired back in 2009, according to Business Jet Traveler. Have no fear though: one still remains, a 12-passenger Dassault Falcon 7X that will likely be the form of transportation that she takes to get to the big game.
Flights from Tokyo to LA typically range from 10 to 12 hours, meaning that if Swift wants enough time to rest, get ready, and maybe even see Kelce, it’d be wise for her to leave Tokyo on February 10th at midnight. By doing this, Swift would arrive back in the States between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 10th, time-traveling nearly 12 hours. Allotting her a little under 24 hours to spare before kickoff. So, whether you want her to be there or not, Taylor Swift will likely be rocking red and gold this Sunday in support of the Chiefs.
This will be Kelce’s fourth trip to the Super Bowl, a game he and his team have only lost once in those four times. Taylor Swift has created her own music dynasty and Kelce and the Chiefs are on the brink of doing the same with another Super Bowl Victory. However, they’ll have to go through the number-one-seeded San Francisco 49ers, led by quarterback Brock Purdy, who said he isn’t worried about “disappointing” Taylor Swift. For his sake, let’s hope Karma doesn’t get him, or Swift, Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs will be riding yet another Getaway Car to victory.
