“The Fallout”: A Generation Inspiration

"The Fallout", a recent film starring Maddie Ziegler, Jenna Ortega, and many more talented actors came out on January 27 to HBO Max. It appears there could not have been a better time for the movie to stream when we need it the most.

In the beginning of the production, there is a tragedy at the school. After the unimaginable catastrophe, students must adjust to a different way of living. A new normal. “The Fallout” dives deep into how individuals react to change in various ways. What used to be a known place for learning, becomes a haven of uncertainty, the unknown.

It targets challenges, the strength of current students, and normalizes that it is alright to get help when it is needed. Students now face a time of unexpected events. We have wanted a change from climate change, school safety, and making everyone feel welcome to the pandemic.

It is inevitable, that the future will bring more unpredictable times. However, this group of students will for sure be the start of up-and-coming change. “The Fallout” is an inspiration for this generation. A call for action. The need for an evaluation of modern days.

Through thoughtful consideration, the director Meghan Park made a rememberable film spreading awareness for the public to see what is happening behind the scenes. It is certainly a story where Gen-Zs can connect with the characters.

The film is a raw illustration and portrays realistic methods on how the students cope with a tragedy, either in not-so-healthy ways trying to ignore the issue at hand which often ripple effects things to make it worse or guiding the change in becoming an advocate. The main takeaway is, getting help is okay just as being the help is okay.
