On December 7th, the 2023 edition of The Game Awards will take place in Los Angeles, California at the Peacock Theatre during 8 PM EST. The event is meant to be an award show for the most highly praised video games of 2023, which has a number of interesting surprises and changes going into this year.
One of the major aspects that many people mention while talking about The Game Awards is the nominated games. There is a plethora of categories that are included in the award show; some include the best adaptation, the best multiplayer game, the best mobile game, and much more. However, the most notable trophy is the Game of the Year Award. The nominees for the GOTY include Alan Wake 2, Super Mario Bros Wonder, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur’s Gate 3, Resident Evil 4, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Another aspect that’s mentioned about The Game Awards is the video game announcements. On top of award ceremonies, the event also announces upcoming games that garner a lot of attention and excitement. Some of the notable games that were shown last year include Crash Team Rumble, Death Stranding 2, and Hades II. As for this year, the games that are yet to be revealed are currently unknown, which brings a lot of fun theories of what may be shown.
As for event-related news, The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley stated that the security for the event will be much tighter compared to the previous year. Given the incident where the GOTY acceptance speech was crashed by a random patron spouting nonsense, stronger security measures will be added to ensure that awardees will be safe from any unexpected intrusions and situations.
The 2023 edition of The Game Awards will be broadcast on their respective YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as direct feeds on Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and other social media platforms. It will be set to start at 8 PM EST on the 7th of December, so be ready for a show filled with great games and awards!
