Summer vacation can sometimes make you feel isolated. You feel like there is nothing to do most of the time, but you still feel bad for not being productive.
Over the past few weeks, I found three methods that helped me stay productive over the summer. If you are feeling bored, you can start these methods today.
Tip #1: Explore a new hobby.
This one is simple, but it can go a long way. If there was ever an activity that you always wanted to try, take the time to go for it! Having all this free time in the summer gives you the luxury to explore new hobbies that you couldn’t do in school.
This could vary from going to the gym to exercise or learning how to paint. I recently tried to learn how to draw again, and even though the drawings aren’t that good, I enjoy practicing! Whatever you decide to do as a hobby, find something that makes you happy.
Tip #2: Stay connected with friends.
It can feel different not being around your friends you used to see every day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t reach out to them! Modern cellular devices and social media have allowed us to be more connected than ever, so use that opportunity to catch up with friends if you’re feeling lonely!
Not every meetup with friends must be done virtually, either. You can also plan a time and event to meet up with your friends in person. By doing this, it will be just like the old times back in college, and your day suddenly becomes more interesting!
Tip #3: Create a daily checklist for your tasks and plans.
This is where you can combine the two tips I mentioned previously. Instead of feeling lost and scrolling through your phone to pass the time, you can create a checklist of everything you want to do or get done on a given day.
A common habit I have before going to bed is creating a to-do list of everything I want to do the next day. This could include reminders to call my friends or bosses, complete summer assignments, or explore a hobby I want to try. By doing this method, I feel like I have been more productive on any given day.
To Conclude…
I hope that these tips can provide some guidance in case you feel bored over the summer. Also, do not feel like you need to apply these methods right away. Take things at your own pace and enjoy yourself, because you deserve to enjoy your break after a long semester.
