Trevor Story Injured, To Miss Time

On Tuesday, the Red Sox announced that second baseman, Trevor Story, successfully underwent right elbow surgery. Unfortunately for the team, Story is expected to miss time. As of now, the timetable of return is unknown, according to Red Sox president of operations, Chaim Bloom.

It appears that Story has been unable to catch a break after missing the final two months of his rookie season with the Colorado Rockies in 2016 and much of last year in his first season with Boston. In his first Red Sox year, Story suffered a right-hand contusion, followed by a left heel contusion, limiting him to only 94 games.

Knowing this injury will hurt the Red Sox, the team will be busy in the remainder of the 2023 offseason with attempts to fill his spot.

Christian Arroyo and Enrique Hernandez are strong contenders in sharing playing time at shortstop, while the possibility of the Red Sox acquiring or signing a free agent exists.
