Clear your schedule for Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021! A Bed for Every Child is coming to Dean College for an event with a great cause.
Tina Baptista, the Program Director for the Build A Bed Project, is excited for the event.
“A pirate ship, a reading nook, a safe place to rest, somewhere to dream,” said Baptista. “A bed is many things to a child. One thing it should never be? A luxury their family can’t afford. At A Bed for Every Child, our mission is to ensure all children have a bed of their own, regardless of their family’s income. That’s why we’re partnering with businesses, schools, and community organizations across Massachusetts to provide beds for families in need through a meaningful team-building experience. By investing in strengthening your team, you can make a tangible impact in your community - giving a local child access to a life-changing resource while honing your leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. In just a few hours, you’ll transform a bundle of wood into a handmade bed - while inspiring your team to work collaboratively, hone new skills, and achieve something they can be proud of.”
Jen Polimer, The Director of Orientation, Community Service and Special Projects is helping to organize the project.
“The office of orientation and community service is doing this project with Student Outreach and SGA, in addition to Alumni Relations at Dean College,” said Polimer. “There will be teams of student organizations, and if a student is interested contact me. There will be sign-ups when we get closer to the date.”
Polimer’s motivation for helping with this project is purely for the children.
“Our students really like projects with a tangible impact, like they see with the bed being built,” said Polimer. “They have a passion for helping children. This is an amazing opportunity to practice, enhance and fine tune their skills, not only to give back.”
