SGA President Cameron Ward here! Here is the first edition of what Student Government Association is working on for the students it represents this week:
· SGA alongside the Black Student Union is hosting it’s third and final Town Hall on Friday November 20th at 5PM EST. This Town Hall will discuss Social Justice and Racial Inequalities in our society and how we as members of a community can change that culture on campus and in our world. One of this administration’s goals is to have SGA produce at least three Town Halls a semester from here on out, talking and learning more about the issues that matter most to students. The link to participate or listen in is posted on Today@Dean and in Brittany Korbel’s Weekly Happenings!
· SGA is planning on hosting a “Baking Competition”, just in time for the holiday season! We encourage all students confident and not confident to sharpen their culinary skills and put it to the test. Winners will receive special prizes to be announced at a later date with more details to come!
· SGA’s guest this week is none other than the guy who probably has received the most e-mails recently: Matt Lechter! Matt is the Director of Residence Life for the college and he is coming to this week’s meeting to discuss some of his responsibilities in his role at the college and to help answer any questions that your duly elected Senators have in regards to Residence Life. We encourage you to contact your elected student representatives to have your questions answered directly! This meeting will be recorded and available to view after our meeting on Wednesday at 5:00 so you can be as informed as possible when we start the Spring semester!
Thank you for reading the first SGA update of the 2020-2021 academic school year, we are so glad the Dean Daily is back in full swing and even more excited to update you weekly about what SGA is doing to enhance your student experience here at Dean.
With thanks and appreciation,
Cameron Ward ‘21
