Dean College has many student-run organizations on its campus. The goal of each organization is to encourage on-campus involvement in a variety of areas. One of these organizations is Dean News Network.
Dean News Network is a club that lets students work in the Dean digital studios to make news segments. These segments range from campus news, professional sports, the entertainment industry, and several other topics.
The start of Dean News Network can be traced back to 2017. Two students had the idea for a weather report series which soon developed into a news and sports series. The first year had growing pains due to the lack of members but eventually saw massive growth led by Dean alumni Luke Smith as President and Jamie Sweeny as Vice President.
“For the first year, not enough people came together to do it so I started to recruit students from my classes that I thought would enjoy the club. They formed an E-Board and started to produce segments,” said Senior Advisor to Dean News Network, Gregg Seibert.
Dean News Network has since grown into one of the most popular clubs on campus. What has made DNN so popular and appealing to students across campus is the access to modern digital studio access and social connectivity with other Dean students.
The E-Board consists of Dylan Thomas as President, Addison Graham as Vice President, Marah Jette as Secretary, Emily Wallace as Director of PR & Marketing and Brett Chaves as Assistant of Membership.
