On February 19th, 1865, Dean College was officially founded in Franklin, MA as Dean Academy by Dr. Oliver Dean. Dean Academy prepared students for college with a well-rounded education in academics, athletics, and other social activities.

In World War Two, Dean would grow with the addition of a junior college before phasing out the academy in favor of the junior college. Dean grew again in 1994, as the school began offering bachelor's degrees and became a four-year institution, officially becoming Dean College.

This Thursday, February 16th, Dean will celebrate its 158th anniversary by uncovering the forgotten founders of the college and unveiling a historic photograph of the Grace Universalist Church.

Dean will celebrate its founding day in the trophy room at Memorial Hall and will feature a Q&A session with guest panelists and a dessert bar for attendees from 6-8 PM. To learn more about Dean College and its founders, visit today.dean.edu for more information!
