When you think of students at Dean College who contribute to the “Dean Difference,” a perfect name that comes to mind is Toby White.
Toby White is currently a senior at Dean majoring in Communications. Not only does he contribute in activates in class, but he also is a big component of the program outside of class. He helps run the on-campus radio station, WGAO Power 88, as well as operate cameras for Dean TV. Toby also operates his own photography business called Tobias White Sports Photo, traveling across New England taking photos for teams such as the New England Patriots and our own Dean Bulldogs.
Most importantly, Toby is involved with Dean College’s news club, Dean News Network. Dean News Network, also referred to as, “DNN,” focuses on letting club members create segments based on their interests and hobbies. Toby has been in DNN for about one and a half years and has been involved in two different segments. His first segment discussed video game news and current updates in the e-sports world. He is currently involved with Fantasy Gods, a segment focusing on fantasy and professional sports.
As the other Co-Host of Fantasy Gods, I can attest to the amount of effort and work that Toby puts into our success. Before we even film, we must complete a script showing what we will be discussing during our show. Toby always has new and fresh ideas to contribute, making our segment more diverse and entertaining. During the actual filming of our show, it never seems like he is bored of our topic. He is engaged and we always have fun conversations about professional sports. Without Toby, Fantasy Gods would not be the same.
When Toby leaves in the spring, I honestly don’t know what I am going to do. When I first met him, I had no clue who he was and what I was getting myself into. However, as we progressed through the year, I grew a strong friendship with him. Now that he is moving on, I must start all over again. I, Fantasy Gods, and the rest of the DNN crew will miss Toby. I wish nothing but the best of luck to him in his future endeavors, and I hope that he will be back to visit!
