Join Dean News Network!

Are you looking for a fun and easy way to get involved on campus? Do you want a safe and friendly environment to talk about and spread awareness about your favorite topics? Are you looking for a place to build friendships that could last a lifetime? If any of those questions apply to you then you should join Dean News Network, Dean College’s very own club that allows students the opportunity to work in a video production setting and get an idea of how professional news stations may run their video shoots. Are you not in Dean’s communication’s program or not interested in a career in the media? Doesn’t matter, Dean News Network accepts all students no matter what their major may be.

You do not even have to have your own segment to be in the club. If you just want to learn how to use the equipment that is perfectly fine. You can have your segment be about just about any topic you want it to be about, as long as it is school appropriate. Want to talk about sports? Go for it. Want to do a segment about your favorite movie? Sounds like a great idea. How about the state of the economy? That could be a lot of fun.

Even if you want to be on camera but just can’t think of any segment ideas you can still be on camera. You can be the anchor on the weekly DNN Bulletin segment where you go over the campus events for that weekend. The script is written for you, and you don’t have to worry about editing it either. If you want a bit more of a challenge, you can volunteer for the News and Sports segment where you will cover the news around the campus and the school’s sports teams.

Dean News Network meets twice a week, Mondays at 5:00 in Science Building Room 11 for pre-production meetings and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 in the Digital Studios in Dean Hall. Hope to see you at the next meeting!
