Dean College announced that Sodexo has returned as a provider for the Dean College Dining Service. Sodexo offers “fresh made-to-order and customizable offers in the Smith Dining Center” and “fun and engaging theme meals and events designed to ignite campus connections.”
This comes after Dean College switched to Aramark Collegiate Hospitality a year prior as their provider for dining services. Aramark received criticism last year for the quality of food and service that students experienced. This criticism grew after Aramark decided to let go of Ms. May, one of the most beloved members of the Dean College community.
One student who will remain anonymous said that his experience with Aramark was “…hard with certain dietary issues…they did not have the accurate ingredients for their products. I would ask the staff politely about what ingredients they had in the food, and they said they had no idea what was in the food, even no list of the ingredients.”
Another student, Maria Aleman, has her own different experience with Aramark. “Personally, I had a good experience with the Dining Hall last semester, though there were some ups and downs regarding the food as any Dining Hall would have, I’d say I was satisfied.”
Now that Sodexo has returned, only time will tell if this decision improves the Dean College Dining Service. However, it is seen as a welcome change within the student community after last year's Aramark experience.
