As we approach the opening weekend of Formula One racing in Melbourne, Australia, the world’s grandest motorsport gears up for its first of twenty-four race weekends giving fans around the world hope for what could be the most competitive Formula One season in recent memory.

The F1 grid was drastically shaken this offseason, with seven-time world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton officially joining Ferrari after 12 years at Mercedes. Hamilton promises to deliver results to the Tifosi and a possible eighth world championship. Plenty of other drivers have made the switch to new teams. Carlos Sainz leaves Ferrari for midfield contender Williams, Liam Lawson was called up to Red Bull to replace Sergio Perez, and Esteban Ocon leaves Alpine for HAAS. These moves promise an exciting and drama filled season.

That’s not the only drama heading into the season, as McLaren will have its hands full this 2025 season fresh off their first constrictors championship, which is given to the team with the most points at the end of the season. Many in the media believe that their premier driver, Lando Norris, can bring the drive to compete with the four.-time defending champion Max Verstappen and Red Bull, Zak Brown and McLaren might have a similar problem to Ferrari, with Oscar Piastri being equally as talented and skillful. McLaren could potentially have a driver battle that could escalate into a catastrophe.

What can also make this season super interesting is the six rookies on the grid. Two of them stand out to me as the best of the six, Ollie Bearman and Kimi Antonelli. Bearman made shockwaves last season, racing for Ferrari in the interim of the injury to Carlos Sainz. While Bearman will be racing for HAAS this season, arguably the worst car on the grid, there will be plenty of chances for him to be the best rookie on the grid.

Kimi Antonelli will be replacing Hamilton in the Mercedes seat. If the pressure of replacing Hamilton isn’t enough, Mercedes will certainly not take a backseat for the constructor’s title, and his teammate, George Russell, cannot do everything for the team. Antonelli is going to have to put the team on his back when Russell can’t. If he’s unable to, it’s going to be a long season for Toto Wolff and Mercedes.

As always, the F1 calendar features its glits and glamour all over the world with the staple races of Monaco, Silverstone, Monza, SPA, and plenty others on their world tour. While the F1 season can be full of surprises and hard to predict, here’s how I think the 2025 F1 season will play out:
